Entitlement (VA)

Definition: VA entitlement is the amount the Department of Veterans Affairs will guarantee on an eligible veteran's home loan, which lets lenders offer VA financing with no down payment for qualified borrowers.

Eligibility is confirmed with a Certificate of Eligibility. Veterans with full entitlement generally have no VA loan limit, while those with a VA loan still outstanding have partial entitlement that can limit the no down payment amount. Entitlement is usually restored when a VA loan is paid off and the home is sold, and it can be reused.

Texas veterans may also look at Texas Veterans Land Board home loan programs, which we offer alongside conventional, FHA and VA financing. Our VA options start at a minimum score of 580, with manual underwriting available at 580.
